Keeping Hope Alive

Jamaica is facing economical and crime problems
Many feel overwhelmed this is probably how Nelson Mandela felt when he was young almost hopeless but we have to keep hope alive.
This Christmas I did a few small things like buying a Christmas tree locally buying pillows from a local pillow maker and getting my lab coats made here. We have to keep hope alive I know we don't know how to solve this crime but maybe if we buy products from local craftsmen we can help provide money and maybe they will be less likely to steal . Just take small steps Mandela didn't give up even though he faced a burka and impossible situation . We also have the fighting spirit of our Ancestors in on so let's fight for Jamaica

Jamaican prosperity lies in simple things....like pillows

BUY JAMAICAN BUILD OUR COUNTRY

BUY JAMAICAN GOODS, PRODUCE, SERVICES ETC

READ THE LABELS- BUY” MADE IN JAMAICA

WE ARE PROUD TO BE JAMAICANS

JAMAICA’S PLEDGE- SO THAT

JAMAICA MAY UNDER GOD INCREASE

IN BEAUTY, FELLOWSHIP AND

PROSPERITY

This is such a serious thing for Jamaicans for us to change our attitude towards our selves and our products. We have to make a conscious decision to buy local because its soooo easy to buy imports as we are flooded with imports. For example I needed some pillows for our bedroom and as usual you could go to the retailers who import pillows. But I remember when we were kids when we needed a pillow you buy it from the " PILLOW MAN"  that was the local guy who would make and sell pillows.
I saw a guy selling pillows yesterday, the poor guy was heavily laden with pillows I had to wonder if he had managed to sell any that day. I got two soft pillows for J$500 each and I really hoped he got to sell more. Of course the pillows are soft and comfortable like any pillow.
They usually sell soft medium and firm. I was able to get a locally made product that was cheaper than the imported pillows and help to spend the money here locally.

Lets really try and do this

Jamaican sweets and treats!

buildjamaicanpride@gmail.com

These are some traditional Jamaican snacks many people can remember their grandmother and great grandmother making these.
Pink and white is a made from grated coconut and sugar and red coloring
Gizzarda is made from grated coconut nutmeg and is placed in a crust made from flour
Drops made from chopped and diced coconuts and sugar ginger

These treats are so tasty and healthy two
They don't have the excessive additives and strange ingredients like sweets made  these days
They are still widely available at virtually all supermarkets and pharmacies
Let's rekindle the old Jamaican goodness  in these guilt free snacks and support the local people who bake them and they are inexpensive most are under $150 each

Tessanne Chin you have made us so proud

Congrats Tessanne Chin winner of The Voice you have made Jamaics proud with your powerful voice , you have lifted our spirits at a time when we need lifting up.
You talent echoes the spirit of the great Bob Marley , Peter Tosh that has gone on before us and the present talent of Those who are alive both great and small.
We feel the same way that Jamaica left when Bolt broke his first world record, when our 4x 100 teams won the Olympics.
I know you will continue to do us proud. Tessanne our new ambassador to the world!

Grocery shopping - The All Jamaican Way!

Contact me at buildjamaicanpride@gmail.com

Do when I go grocery shopping I try to buy "Made In Jamaica"

Most "Made In Jamaica" products proudly display the Jamaican flag so I look out for that .
So these were my finds today when I went shopping
The Gourmet Touch

The Gourmet Touch  makes soups and sauces like Pumpkin Parmesan soup , Carrot and Corriander, Mushroom and Sherry soup, Tomato Basil soup and sauces like Marinara sauce, creamy Mushroom Alfredo, Sun Dried Tomato Pesto, Traditional Marinara.
Now the ingredients that she uses to make these are simple natural, she buys most of them from Coronation Market which is the chief market in Kingston, really no artificial ingredients and the soups and a sauces taste great! The soups are especially convenient and can be prepared in 15 mins. They are in the frozen section. You simply partially thaw and warm it. So it's great for the person on the go and totally filling.
They made in Jamaica logo is there hence it must be good.
They are available at Loshusan supermarket .

Coconut cream

Coconut cream also called coconut milk is essential for our Mackerel Run down , rice and peas , coconut curry shrimp , coconut curry lobster and the list goes on ...
Freehill and Renee coconut cream is the real deal , the ingredients for each is simply 100% coconut milk.
No additives where as the imported coconut powder has artificial preservatives which may not necessarily be good for you such as sodium caseinate , silicon dioxide, dipotassium phosphate

As I say keep it natural , keep if organic .
Freehill and Renee coconut cream is simply thawed then used to cook and they give the meal a rich creamy taste .
Most retail for just under J$80 per packet and are available at most supermarkets . One pack can often be used for more than one dish.
So eat up, eat healthy, eat Jamaican.

Pure Country Orange Juice

As the name says , Pure.
The ingredients is 100%percent orange juice.
Oranges are sun ripened in our 365 day per year Jamaican tropical climate, and the best oranges harvested to bring this rich source of Vitamin C
Pure Country... Pure Jamaican goodness!
